Dear Colleague:

We invite you to attend the 2012 National Conference in New Orleans. With so many issues and challenges before us, the conference gives us an excellent opportunity to examine new program directions and best practices; identify ways to stretch limited resources; build and sustain lead poisoning prevention, lead hazard control and healthy housing programs; learn how to pursue funding opportunities; discuss how to best undertake inspection, risk assessment, project remediation and clearance; and clarify how to utilize federal regulations to advance program objectives.

The conference will also give us an opportunity to explore post-Katrina recovery progress in the New Orleans area. On Tuesday morning, attendees will be able to take a tour of areas that were devastated by Katrina and to view their present conditions, or take a tour of the wetland areas around New Orleans to see first hand the ecological affects of Katrina on the area. In addition, organizations instrumental in the rebuilding process will set up information displays and participate in conference sessions.

Our respective associations are pleased to bring you this conference.

Kent Ackley, President,
Lead and Environmental Hazards Association

Dr. Brenda Reyes,
Board Member National Association of Lead and Healthy Homes Grantees
